WOFF News Mod by 77Scout,
with many thanks to Buckeye Bob for contributing several news articles, plus doing a lot of excellent editing!

Version 4.5
-----------------------------------------------------

WHAT IT DOES:

This mod simply adds more data for the various newspaper articles that pop up during a Wings Over Flanders Fields (WOFF) campaign.

Once installed, you should see many more newspaper reports in the campaign, keeping you more informed about the progress of the war on land, sea, and air. For example, WOFF comes with only about 18 newspaper articles for 1916, and the mod increases that to about 220 news articles. There are about 710 news articles in total, covering 1915 through to the end of the war.

COMPATIBILITY:

To my knowledge, the mod works with all versions of Wings Over Flanders Fields (WOFF1, WOFF2, WOFF3, and WOFF-UE) and generally "plays well" with other mods (i.e. no conflicts).

DISCLAIMERS:

This is a third-party mod that is not part of WOFF. OBD (the makers of WOFF) are in no way connected with this mod and will not provide you with any support for its use.

If you have problems with WOFF, OBD will expect you to uninstall all mods and return your WOFF install back to an original stock configuration before offering any support.

Use this mod at your own risk. The mod changes only a few text files for the newspaper so it should not mess up anything with the main game, nevertheless, I can assume no responsibility for it's use or the outcome of it's use.

INSTALLATION USING JSGME (recommended):

The best way to install the mod is using the JSGME mod enabler. If you are using JSGME then simply unvip the mod to a convenient location on your computer and then copy/paste the mod into your "MODS" folder (which should be located within your main WOFF folder). For example, move/paste the "WOFF News Mod V4.5" folder into C:\OBDSoftware\WOFF\MODS if your WOFF install is on your c: drive.

INSTALLATION WITHOUT JSGME (easy to screw up and not recommended):

The mod can be installed manually if necessary. It is not as slick and easy as using JSGME, but works.

First, make a backup copy of the stock news folder in case you ever need to uninstall. Browse to C:\OBDSoftware\WOFF\campaigns\campaignData (assuming you have installed on your C: drive). Make a copy of the "News" folder and rename the copy as "NewsBackup". Leave the original "News" folder in place.

Unzip the downloaded mod file to a convenient location on your computer (like your desktop). The mod files are contained within a folder called "WOFF News Mod V4.5"

Enter that folder and copy the folder called "OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields".

Now locate your main "WOFF" folder (where your WOFF game is installed, typically located at C:\OBDSoftware\WOFF) and 'paste' the mod there.

UNINSTALLING:

If you are using JSGME then simply use that program to disable it at any time. To remove it permanently, simply delete the mod from your "MODS" folder.

To uninstall a manual installation, go to the "News" folder in your WOFF install. This is typically located at C:\OBDSoftware\WOFF\OBDWW1 Over Flanders Fields\campaigns\CampaignData\

Delete the folder called "News". This removes the modified news files.

Now rename your backed-up news folder from "NewsBackup" to "News". This makes the original stock news files active again.

HELP or SUGGESTIONS

If you have any problems with this mod, you can PM me (77Scout) at the WOFF official forum and I will make every effort to assist you.

Same goes for suggestions. PM me if you have suggestions for improvement.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:

I have written the articles from a neutral standpoint. The same news will pop up regardless of what side you are flying for in the game, so no sides taken.

I have tried to make the news articles reasonably accurate, but I am not a historian. This is strictly an amateur attempt, based on information gleened from the Internet. Expect a few errors here and there, and chalk that up to bad reporting just like what happens in real life news reporting.

If you think I have some news facts REALLY screwed up, you can PM me at the WOFF forum and I'll try to fix, if warranted.
